Of Mice and Men: Book Cover and Poster Analysis

Here are the images (in colour) for you to finish your table and predictions regarding the four focuses:

Setting- the place or type of surroundings where an event takes place.
Plot- the main events of a play, novel.
Characters- a person in a novel, play, or film.
Themes- an idea that recurs in or in infused in a work of art or literature.

Don't forget to justify your prediction with direct reference to something you have seen in the image. Remember to try and produce some analysis with depth, think closely about the decisions made by designers of these book covers and posters. Everything is a conscious decision and has been done for a reason.

Historical and Social Context

Hello ladies,

This lesson we are going to be looking into the historical and social context for the novel we are going to be studying this term.

Your task for this lesson is to use laptops to research your given topic and comment on this post with the information you have found.

Rules:
-You may not copy and paste huge chunks from sources like Wikipedia.
- Make sure you read through the information carefully and understand it. Re-write it in your own words if necessary.
- Some of the topics may be different for men, women and families. Or people in cities differently rather than in rural areas. Make sure your research covers these different demographics.
- Can you find any statistics?
- Find an image you think suits your research to accompany your post.

You must post your responses by the end of the lesson.

Good luck.

Controlled Assessment Topics

Hello ladies,

If you could just quickly leave a comment on here so that I can see what you are going to use as the topic for your controlled assessment that would be great.

Just so I am clear that we all have a topic to use......we need to start focusing on the piece itself rather than spending forever deciding what to write about.

Thanks

Blog

Hi 10Y2,

This is our English blog that we will be using over the next couple of years for various things.

I may set a homework task on here that you may need to comment on and respond to, or some links to some wider reading that you may want to look at.
