In today's lesson we have been looking some of the approaches and skills that can be used for creating a piece of creative writing from a still image.
Can you comment on this post with one of the paragraphs you started to produce in the lesson.
Remember that the paragraph doesn't have to use any characters from the image, it doesn't need to include any of the plot or story line from the film. The image is simply a stimulus, a door way into what you are writing.
Don't forget to put your name on the piece.
Due: Monday 3rd March 2014
10Y2,
ReplyDeleteHere is the paragraph that I quickly produced in the lesson to give you an example if you are not sure of what type of thing is expected of you.
The fireworks bombarded the night sky, invading the evening's still mood to announce the opening of festivities like a twenty one gun salute. Revellers followed their orders and descended on the battlefield to be the first to make camp on the dance floor. The colours were an assault on the senses; glittering golds; shimmering silvers and glimmering greens. Above it all, looking down like a commander in chief, stood a tall figure smiling invitingly.
I hope this helps.

It was feezing cold , I was shivering. I was soaked, and the torrential rain wasn't stopping. But I wasn't going to leave now after waiting so long, so I waited and waited. Every minute felt like an hour, as I became more and more cold, the rain drops hit me like bombs my senses exploded: there she was! ...Finally I saw her, what I had been waiting for, her emerald blue eyes, and her beautiful long golden hair. I was filled with excitement as she walked towards me.
ReplyDeleteFinally, the night had arrived and excitement filled the air. Bright orange, red blazing fireworks dazzled in the pitch black sky amongst the twinkling, white stars. There was a gigantic bang, as the extraordinary firework exploded. The crowd was immense as they watched the vibrant, celebratory fireworks illuminate the starry night sky with burning streaks of light. the shining moment as each explosion struck and scattered, to fill the crowd with momentous, never ending bliss!

This was it... the night I'd been waiting for, for months. It was perfect. The fireworks erupted into the clear, night sky, filling it with rainbows of twinkling flashes amongst the bright full moon and tiny clusters of constellations dotted around in the pitch black sky. I was so excited I could feel tingling in my toes and fingers. I stood there amazed, soaking up the magical atmosphere like it was going to be stolen from me any second. As I turned around, I saw him. Standing behind me, smiling at me glass in hand.

As the flowers of colour bloomed across what would be a still, silent night sky, he smiled at me, raising his glass. I stared at this carnival, with its swarm of people partying and drinking. I could hear pulses of sound beating in the air, and fairground rides' tinny music playing. I was momentarily startled by the detonations of the fireworks, but I recalled where we were, with the rabble of the crowd celebrating. I could faintly detect the wafting aroma of frying pancakes and popcorn. The night would've been quiet had it not been for the people.
ReplyDeleteFluorescent colours gleamed across the midnight sky as people lionized. Red,green and yellow streaks filled the atmosphere bringing joy and delight to those who watched. Prior to the neon lights flashing beyond him, a man stood raising a warm toast. His eyes as welcoming as his smile, and as blue as the ocean. The night was full of blissful people as the festival erupted into liveliness.

I could feel the earth crumble into my knees. The rain bore on endlessly, pounding on the sidewalks and roads beside me into vast lakes of dull, muddy water. Dark grey clouds covered the sky like a drop of spilled ink on white paper. The monotonous sound of raindrops beating on the sidewalk blended in with the occasional whoosh of the breeze of wind, as I cried out one more time.

There i stood, without a care in the world. Now was my chance for all my problems to wash away with the drenching rain. My eyes were set on the nights sky and as i slowly lifted my chin up the tiny droplets of water gently landed on my face. Before i knew it the bitter taste had already reached my mouth. My ears were filled with the continuous pitter patter as the rain dropped to the ground. Yes i felt cold and damp, but that was nothing compared to what i was feeling inside. That feeling of excitement and freedom had me overwhelmed as i took in the earthy smelling fresh air.

Fierce flaming colours engulfed the dusty coal sky over the unfazed crowds. The golden champagne reflected the dramatic burning colours of celebration from the sky. A man with crystal blue eyes as deep as the ocean, and a suit as classic as a roles royce welcomed all lost souls to a night of celebration. Sparks flew from every angle you could see, sparks of colour to sparks of high spirits. The heat was as overwhelming as a roaring fire out of control as rich celebration filled the air with upper class joyfulness all night long; until the final flames burnt out.

His bright glistening eyes were inviting you into his fluorescent world. The fireworks were screaming attention as many colours shot up into the sky. His smile said one thousand words, when really he didn’t need to say anything at all. He raised a glass to the celebration taking place, which almost looked like a huge carnival with people from all different walks of life. The night was alive as everyone was partying and drinking, letting themselves go. It seemed unforgettable.

Fireworks lit up the clear night sky, erupting the darkness with fluorescent colors that exploded as they reached the highest height in sight. The atmosphere around me was buzzing, each and every person was observing the lit up sky, almost hypnotized by the beautiful colors. The only person that wasn't looking up at the brightly lit sky was stood a few meters in front of me. In front of me he stood dressed he to toe in a smart suit, almost as charming as the smile he wore on his face. He beamed a charming smile, before raising a glass, full to the brim with champagne. The fireworks continued to bang and fizz behind him, and the atmosphere continued to stay loud and around us.

I felt as free as the phoenix rising from the ashes, as the thunder boomed and the lightning crackled in the background it was just me and my thoughts. My damp clothes sticking to my body, as the rain hit me from every direction. The heavy rain fell from the sky like a thousand hooves pounding against the ground.

ReplyDeleteHeavy rain fell from the ocean of clouds that was held within the sky, each fat droplet with the power to drench whatever it fell upon. Thunder like a crumbling mountain and tumbling boulders shook the air.
A lanky, lean man walked weakly along the puddle flooded pavement, shaken with insanity. The damp earthy atmosphere filled his nostrils with calm and his mind with aching memories. Torso absent of a jacket or shirt, left bare and cold in the torrential rain.
His rotting teeth bared in a twisted grin. ‘Weather that brought fear to any insect’ and he chuckled at the thought.

His eyes sparkled as bright as the fireworks that whizzed and whirled vivaciously behind him, squealing to be seen. His hair glimmered like the champagne in his hand, and was a gold as a pure gold block. The smile he wore on his face lit up the party, luring you in. People everywhere, dancing, drinking and celebrating like it was the last night of their lives. It seemed like a night to go down in history, never forgotten,

I stood there listening to the rapid beat of my heart and the freezing rain pouring all around me. I was going over what I had seen ... what I had done. I replayed it over and over in my head driving myself to insanity thinking if there was any way to reverse it. I felt the water dripping down my forehead as I whispered to myself "it wasn't my fault", because it couldnt be my fault ... could it ?

He raised his champagne glass and smiled, his eyes as blue as the morning sky, they glistened like the sun reflecting from the waves. Fireworks exploded into the dark night sky around him, filling it with the most beautiful assortment of colour and light. The excitement grew as the large crowd behind him looked up at the most stunning display of flashing lights that your could ever imagine. The atmosphere was electric, like no other i had ever experienced.

Bursts of silver and red sparkles exploded into the midnight sky lighting up the night. Party goers clutched tall glasses brimming with bubbling champagne and toasted them into the new year. The sequins of the dresses worn cached the light and glistened away adding to the blazing lights in the sky. The sound of laughing and celebrating rose up like the sun rising at the crack of dawn.

Did I know this man? Was he looking for someone behind me? It was such a colourful atmosphere. I was surrounded by hallucinations, screams and cheers. The sky filling with colours that I didn't even know existed. I felt like a dream, I wanted it to be a dream...I think it was a dream. He was so sweet and smelt so nice. Professional but charming. Everything was an explosion, even my taste buds from the juicy, tangy punch. I knew I was about to wake up...I didn't want to.

The bitter taste of freedom trickles down my throat.
ReplyDeleteEvery drip oozes, as it hits the tip of my tongue.
I absorb every drop, as I savour a relish, tang, smack and pop.
A sudden outburst of flavour explodes in my mouth.
My throat flares up as wind rustles past.
The clouds roar as lightening strucks.
I fall to the ground as I am finally free.
A man raising his glass of alcohol with a big smile on his face. He looks like he is at a celebration in the dark night with fireworks exploding. His blue eyes looking like the ocean. He looks as if he is giving a toast and he raised his glass like he was giving it to you.

The pearl white grin engaging you towards the explosions of red, gold and green. Drinks poured in from left, right and centre. Music bursting through the ear drums of the intoxicated party animals dancing around the big, black stage, which roared like a tiger. Wine flowed all round, as the night grew old, the excitement stayed young, glasses were topped up every time they looked like a glass half empty. All this wine, all the explosions, even the tigers roaring on the stay screamed expense. Everyone having a blast, bow ties with purple skirts and bikini tops. A dip in the pool and a tan in the sun, all equal a substantial expense for the pearl white grin. A expense as deep as the ocean which glimmered crystal blue like his squinted blue eyes, which looked straight into mine.

The wind howled and shrieked as it blew across the dark and desolate sky. Rain fell in a waterfall of tears, soaking me through to the bone and mixing with the salty tears on my cheeks. The rough pavement grazed my knees and feet but I’d didn’t try to get up. I couldn’t tell if I was shaking from the sobs that half-choked me or shivering from the chill of the night. I just knelt there. Letting everything that had built up inside me for so long come out at last.
